Conducting curfews on high school students is no longer a novel topic for both students and parents. People rejecting this option have asserted that young adults need freedom and flexible time schedule to handle other things except study. However, others differ by pointing out that without proper regulation, young adults who are just 17 to 19 year old can hardly control their lives and easily be led to irreversible consequences to some extent. From my own perspective, conducting curfew in communities is so necessary that it not merely guarantees the quality of study, but also makes students more responsible in different aspects.
Firstly, there is no denying that enforcing curfew is the most effective way to ensure the study of high school studies. In other words, strict time regulation can fix enough time for students to do homework, even if they have somany activities after school. Since more and more schools have paid more attention to cultivate students’ abilities, organization or club activities have immediately occupied much of their time after the class. Under this circumstance, although certain activities are part of their study, less time could be left for students to accomplish their academic study. With explicit curfew, students will get home on time and flexibly control their timeon academy.
Furthermore, conducting curfew is so necessary that parents will no longer be worried about their children coming home late. In other words, time limitation is equal to personal regulation preventing young generations from illegal activities. In recent years, as the born rate decline sand the living standard increases, more and more parents have regarded their only child in families more highly and even too much spoiled their children. Without curfew, high students may easily get in touch with more dangerous things outside the campus, fights, drinks and even drugs, which is closely associated with the decrease in juvenile delinquency. Thus, in the aspect of the crime rate, curfew should be a prevalent regulation for high school students in different communities.
In addition, conducting curfew is the best way to cultivate the awareness of being punctual for students. As we know, punctuality is one of the most important habits of every successful people in the known history. Since being punctual is the immediate way to win others’ trust, certain curfew is so necessary that high school students can effectively foster positive behaviors. To further illustrate, by imposing the curfew on the students, they can be nervous and alert if they fail to make it -- arriving at their dorms or homes on time, thus the sense of the awareness of time can be molded. It works even better if there is some punishment involved, such as more homework and house chores, even being grounded. In this manner, not only the consciousness of time is cultivated, but also the sense of self-continence is sharpened. Obviously, conducting curfew will generate the proper supervision to regulate the students to do the right thing and gradually hold the strong awareness of punctuality.
Additionally, nothing is more effective than performing curfew that could leave more time for families to get along well with their children. For every student, studying in high school is a crucial time period for students to generate personal values. Undoubtedly, family relations play a significant role in the awareness of students, which may help them avoid adult relation problems when they step into the society. Most importantly, students can even help parents to do some household chores and understand their parents,which could excessively enhance their responsibilities.
In conclusion, although curfew sometimes is hardly taken in effect, which may be interfered by some activities outside the class, it is undeniable to supervise their common behaviors to someextent. Therefore, communities should actively put the policy into effect.
